My maiden name was Mulvey. My father Malachy was born in the County Longford area of Ireland. He had a twin called Sean who died in an accident in 1976 when in his 30's. My dad also has brothers, in order of age, Tommy, Shamus, Malachy & Sean, Kevin and Martin. Also has sister Marie. Only Tommy still lives in Ireland. My Grandfather was called Patrick and he died in Lyneham, Wiltshire, England in 1988. He also had at least one brother called Tommy who died recently. My grandfather Patrick was married to Elizabeth (Lizzie) nee Higgins from Ireland. She died in 1994. My dad was born in 1943. I have a brother Sean. I have tried to trace my family tree but it is impossible because everyone was called Patrick Thomas Mulvey or Thomas Patrick Mulvey and they usually married someone called Elizabeth or Mary!! It became too confusing!!

Nice site, I was just doodling round the net and there it was. Like so many others I am amazed to find so many Mulvey's in one place! I've never met anyone with the same name, except my brothers and sisters and my Dad. He born (1931) in County Roscommon and his mother's name was Janet. He never spoke about his childhood, mainly I suspect because it was a pretty sad time for him. Being born illegitimate in 1930s Ireland was quite a stigma. I gather he was separated from his mother and raised by relatives. He left Ireland (alone!) when he was 14 and came to England to work. It ends happily though because he married a Welsh girl and had 6 kids who are all really cool people. He died in 2001 and we all miss him lots.
